A New Mexico family recently saw something they weren’t quite expecting on their home security camera feed: a ghost.
At least, that’s what Breanna Hernandez claims in a recent KRQE feature.
Hernandez details being at home with her husband when he spotted something on the camera that was unlike anything she ever had seen.
“As soon as I saw it my hair stood up,” she said.
According to Hernandez, her husband happened to look over at the camera and spot the figure in question.
“He was like, ‘Is that a person?’ And then started saying, ‘No, no, that couldn’t have been,’ and then panicked and ran over.”
“You can see the movement of either arms or legs going with the body,” she said.
In the clip, Hernandez goes on to open up about the possible supernatural sources of the image, citing a conversation she had with someone familiar with the history of the property.
“He said that several years ago, I believe it was his uncle had a house on this corner lot, and his uncle passed away,” she said. It’s unclear what the image actually was, but there could be a number of possible explanations.
It’s likely most people spring for a home security system for safety from home invaders like burglars. But as easy and affordable cameras continue to become more available, it’s possible users will continue to find other, unpredictable ways they can come in handy.
Earlier this summer, for example, one YouTuber shared footage captured on his home security camera that caught his young son sneaking downstairs past his bedtime.
“Set up a Nest cam downstairs to bust my elementary age kids who keep coming down to party in the middle of the night,” the father wrote in a caption to the video showing his son army crawling across the floor to try to shut off the camera without being seen.
Though security system owners may just be seeking protection from more traditional home invaders, they may also make owners believe they’re catching a glimpse of the supernatural…or at least of their kids breaking curfew.
