Falling over in your home is viewed by many to not be a very serious incident, but it is actually one of the leading accidents in homes that lead to serious injury or even death. There is no need to worry though. There are several things you can do to avoid this happening. All you have to do is keep the floor clear of clutter and make sure that the handrails and banisters in your home are all safe and secure. Also make sure that you keep the pathway into your home clear to prevent any slips that might occur. If you have children, buy some non-slip pads for any rugs you may have and put up safety gates on the stairs or leading into the kitchen if you have particularly young children.

To prevent any fires, make sure that you do not leave any open flames like candles unattended at any point. Also try and keep flammable objects away from flames like that and don’t leave the kitchen when you are cooking. Stopping smoking inside the house is also a good way of preventing any potential fires from starting.

If you have small children, then the risk of poisoning is always there. You never know when they might start rummaging through cupboards and cabinets and come across something they think they can ingest. To prevent anything like this happening, ensure that lock call cabinets that contain medication of any kind. Also make sure that you keep a close eye on these cabinets so then nothing happens. If anything does happen, it’s always a good idea to have emergency numbers nearby so then you can get in touch with a medical professional as quickly as possible.
