The Best Child Tracking Watches Of 2019

Table of Contents

If you’ve ever watched the news, then you may be familiar with all of the potential concerns with keeping track of your child. From kidnapping to simply getting separated from you at a public event, you want to keep your child safe, even if you’re not around them every moment. That’s where child tracking watches factor in. Using GPS (which stands for Global Positioning System, for your information), you’ll be able to see exactly where your child is at all times. Many of the watches even have a microphone and speaker so you can speak to your child, along with a camera so you can see them. Of course, your child loves to play games, which is why many companies build games right into the watches themselves. Safety and fun all in one convenient package? That’s a win-win situation.

This article goes through the best child tracking watches of 2019 in terms of design, features, general usability, and mobile applications. Let’s get started!

Benobby Kids Smart Watch

For children ages four to twelve, the $39.99 Benobby Kids Smart Watch makes tracking your child’s location easy. It also lets you see and speak to them, either through the camera’s camera or its microphone and speaker.

Pros: Charging your Benobby Kids Smart Watch only requires a USB cable, which is included. I love how you can set up an Electronic Fence for your child, an area they are supposed to be in, and be notified when they leave that area. The watch also has games, a flashlight, plus an alarm clock, giving you the most possible bang for your buck.

Cons: While Benobby claims their watch is “waterproof”, it also says that you shouldn’t wear it in the shower or bath, which sounds like it’s not waterproof to me. I’m also not thrilled with the SeTracker2’s iOS ratings, which is a bit low at 3.1.

Themoemoe Kids Smartwatch

Not only is the Themoemoe Kids Smartwatch less than the industry average at $34.99, but it also has more features than almost any other child tracking watch that I’ve reviewed. Your child will love playing music and games on their watch, while you’ll love keeping them safe and secure.

Pros: The Themoemoe Kids Smartwatch is the only child tracking watch that I’ve reviewed with up to 32 GB of storage for music, making it perfect for a kid who likes to jam. You’ll love checking in with your child via calls and the watch’s built-in camera, while they’ll love choosing from seven games, from basketball to pinball. However, the company was smart enough to allow parents to limit daily game times as well as choosing when kids are allowed to play games.

Cons: I could see how a child could accidentally press on the SOS Emergency Alert button, contacting 911 unnecessarily. I also was a bit disappointed with the watch’s battery life

Nabobess Kids Smart Watch

Don’t let the low price of the Nabobess Kids Smart Watch fool you— it has the majority of features I’m looking for in a child tracking watch. From its GPS to its two-way audio, the Nabobess Kids Smart Watch makes it easy to monitor and communicate with your child throughout the day.

Pros: Although the Nabobess Kids Smart Watch has a bunch of fun games, the company was also kind enough to give the watch a do not disturb mode so it’s not a distraction in school. Kids will love the comfy silicon wristband of the Nabobess Kids Smart Watch, along with its pretty pink color. Plus, the SeTracker app has positive ratings from iPhone and Android users alike.

Cons: The Nabobess Kids Smart Watch doesn’t include a SIM card, so that will add to the cost slightly. I also found the setup instructions hard to understand, although the steps themselves weren’t that difficult.

Best Waterproof

DUIWOIM SmartWatch

With so many things to remember as a parent, it’s easy for your kid to accidentally leave their watch on during a shower or bath. But with the DUIWOIM SmartWatch, that’s not a problem, given its durable, water-proof design.

Pros: The DUIWOIM SmartWatch has an IP rating of 67, meaning it’s completely dust-tight and can immersed to water up to 1m high. Aside from its impressive durability, the watch also features a camera, two-way audio for calls, as well as an SOS emergency button and games. Don’t worry though— you’ll be able to turn on a do not disturb mode so your child isn’t distracted by their DUIWOIM SmartWatch during school.

Cons: At nearly $60, the DUIWOIM SmartWatch costs about 50% more than the industry average, which is a shame. It also uses the SeTracker2 app, which iPhone users were not loving given its 3.1 star rating.

Best With GPS

ZOPPRI Smartwatch

With GPS tracking, you’ll never have to worry about where your child is. Instead, you can check out their location whenever you want using the SeTracker2 app, available both iOS and Android devices.

Pros: Not only will you be able to track your child’s location, but you can also call them, text them, or even see them through the watch’s built-in camera! You’ll charge the watch by the included USB cord, which only takes two hours and lasts for three to five days. Your child will especially love the watch’s games

Cons: At $49.99, the ZOPPRI Smartwatch is slightly above the industry average price of around $42, but not by much. I also am not thrilled with the iOS app, which only has a 3.1 rating overall.

Child Tracking Watch Methodology

Child Tracking Watches Methodology

Just how did we pick out the best child tracking watches of 2019? Here are a few things we look for in a child tracking watch:

  • Comfort: Presumably, your child will be wearing this watch for hours on end, so you want to make sure it’s comfortable for them. After all, if they take it off, it defeats the purpose of having the watch in the first place!
  • Durability: While some watches are waterproof, some should not be worn in the shower, bath, or anywhere else where it will get wet. You can check the watch’s durability by looking for its IP rating, two digits that represent its susceptibility to solids and liquids. For the watch to be completely waterproof, it would need to have an IP rating of 68, meaning it’s completely dust-tight and can be immersed in water over 1m.
  • Features: Of course, the main feature you want to look for in a child tracking watch is GPS, which actually allows you to see your child’s location. But many smartwatches have extra features like two-way audio, cameras, geofencing, or a panic button. There’s also options with games, flashlights, alarm clocks, or even built-in audible alarms.
  • App: You’ll be monitoring your child’s smartwatch through a mobile application, so make sure that it’s user-friendly by checking its reviews on either the Apple or Google Play stores, depending on your mobile device.

Child Tracking Watch Tips

When using or picking out a child tracking watch, what are some tips and tricks to live by?

  • Do not disturb: Games are great, but they can be very distracting, especially when they’re so easily accessible on a smart watch. Make sure your child’s watch has a do not disturb mode so that they can’t play games during class or activities.
  • Carry charger: Even though your smartwatch may only come with one charger, buy an extra one that lives in your kid’s backpack so they’re never without a working smartwatch.
