Earlier this week, Dubai-based home maintenance company Hitches & Glitches (H&G) announced that it will be partnering with Ring to provide more smart home products for their consumers.
H&G will now have Ring devices available in their online store — such as the Floodlight Cam, Spotlight Cam Battery and Ring Video Doorbell 2 — alongside the Velop Router and Nest Thermostat.
Before H&G ventured into the smart home world, the company had been known for helping homeowners with the typical “Bob-the-Builder”-esque tasks. For example, H&G provides services for house cleaning, air conditioning installation, plumbing and electrical needs. Monday’s Ring deal announcement, however, shows that H&G is continuing to invest in the future of home maintenance and security.
In a recent press release Mohammad Meraj Hoda, the vice president of business development for Ring, said that people in the Middle East are becoming more and more a part of the DIY security movement.
“In the Middle East, and like elsewhere in the world, people are no longer depending on just others to provide safety to their homes, families, and neighbourhoods,” he said. “They are taking home security into their own hands to help protect and secure their family and property. Ring’s mission is simple: to reduce crime in neighbourhoods. Partnering with local service providers like H&G helps us expand our reach and makes Ring’s home security solutions more readily available to homeowners in the UAE.”
H&G will now be the home for some of Ring’s top products — most notably the Video Doorbell 2. This award-winning device provides live footage of any doorway and comes with motion sensors and night vision. According to Ring, the Video Doorbell 2 can effectively reduce crime rates in troubled areas.
In 2016, the company partnered with the Los Angeles Police Department and gave away 40 doorbells to residents in Wilshire Park, a middle-class L.A. neighborhood where break in rates were high. The police found that burglary rates plummeted by 55% within six months.
In addition to the Video Doorbell 2, H&G consumers will be able to purchase the Floodlight Cam which is a motion-activated security camera with two-way audio, HD video, built-in floodlights and a siren and/or the Spotlight Cam Battery, a long-lasting battery-powered HD camera with two-way audio and a siren. The company will also offer installation services, too.
H&G’s rollout offer will initially be targeted at its database of over 10,000 homeowners and tenants across the United Arab Emirates (UAE), particularly those in residential areas, villas, and those with freehold and leasehold properties in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
