Ring Stick Up Cam Battery Footage on Amazon Echo Show

Amazon Echo Show

The Echo Show is more than just a 10-inch touchscreen display. It’s your portal into a smart home, connecting all of the IoT devices in your home so you can automate actions, making your life more convenient in general. Alexa, the most popular voice assistant, has thousands of skills that pertain to an endless amount of topics, from cooking to shopping to music. You’ll be able to listen to Spotify through the Echo Show’s 10W speakers with Dolby processing, watch Amazon Prime on the 1280 x 800 screen, or ask Alexa what your schedule is like for the day. With over 50,000 skills, this smart home has endless possibilities.

The Echo Show is available in charcoal or sandstone and will plug into power, connecting to your other smart devices over Wi-Fi. So many products work with Alexa, from smart light bulbs to smart plugs to video doorbells. Using Alexa, you’ll be able to control these devices hands-free with simple commands like “Alexa, turn off the kitchen lights!”. Being an adult just got a whole lot easier.

Best Tech Gift For Men

Philips Norelco Trimmer and Shaver

Philips Norelco Trimmer and Shaver

For the man who loves to take care of himself, get him the Philips Norelco Trimmer and Shaver. This electric trimmer and shaver has a rechargeable OneBlade that can work on any length of hair, shaving, trimming, and creating beautiful edges comfortably, even on wet hair! The blade should last about four months, if your dude shaves twice a week. It’s also a good option for the man on the go, with a cutter moving 200 times per second. Plus, with 14 length settings, he’ll be able to control exactly how long his facial hair is, ideal for a guy who knows what he wants.

Another convenience factor of the Philips Norelco Trimmer and Shaver is it’s rechargeable battery. This means that the man in your life won’t have to buy a new battery periodically. When the LED display shows that the battery is low, he can simply charge it for an hour to 90 minutes. Finally, at only 13.4 ounces, this is a great choice for someone that travels a lot, taking up a length of less than nine inches in his suitcase or carry-on.

Best Teenage Tech Gift

Tile Mate

Tile Mate

Whether your teenager is constantly losing their phone, wallet, or keys, the Tile Mate is a fantastic way to find their items. Using Bluetooth technology, your teenager will be able to see exactly where their lost item is within 200 feet of the Tile Mate. If their item is out of range, that’s okay too. Tile, which makes up 80% of the United States’ market share for Bluetooth trackers, has the largest network around. That means anyone with a Tile app can anonymously and automatically help other people find their lost items as soon as they unknowingly step into the Tile Mate’s range. Of course, the 119-decibel siren is also a huge help, being about as loud as a thunder clap.

To make things even easier, the Tile Mate even works with Alexa and Google Assistant, meaning your kid doesn’t have to come to you every time they lost their phone. Instead, they can ask their trusted voice assistant to help them find lost items, which is pretty darn cool. It’s no wonder that Tile trackers are used on over three million items every day!

Best Tech Gift For Family

eufy RoboVac11S MAX

eufy RoboVac11S MAX

Sure, $270 might sound like a bit much to spend on a vacuum. But the eufy RoboVac11S MAX isn’t your average vacuum. It actually vacuums for you so you’ll never have to push around a heavy vacuum again. Rather, the eufy RoboVac11S MAX can work for up to 100 minutes on hardwood floors without stopping, with suction that’s as powerful as it is quiet. With a glass-top cover to prevent scratches and an infrared-sensor to avoid collisions, the engineers at eufy have truly thought of everything. It even recharges itself so you’ll never have to worry about batteries! When the charge is low, the eufy RoboVac11S MAX automatically returns to it’s HomeBase to charge. If only all appliances were that self-sufficient!

Aside from those great features, the eufy RoboVac11S MAX is programmed to not fall down stairs or off ledges. It has 10 infrared sensors to get to know your home and has wheels large enough to work on carpets and get over door ledges. Plus, the BoostIQ feature means that it can automatically increase the suction power if more is needed, ideal for thicker carpets and truly messy situations. Although a smart vacuum may not seem like the most fun of gifts, I can’t think of one person who would turn down the chance to never vacuum again.

Best Kids Tech Gift

Benobby Kids Smart Watch

Benobby Kids Smart Watch

In this day and age, keeping your kid safe can be a major source of anxiety. But that anxiety can be lessened with the Benobby Kids Smart Watch, which has GPS so you can track your child at all times. With a built-in camera, speaker, and microphone, you’ll also be able to speak to your kid wherever and whenever, which is super helpful when they’re not answering their cell phones. There’s even a panic button if your child is in an emergency situation, which should have you breathing a sigh of relief that they will always be able to easily contact emergency services if needed.

But of course, kids aren’t going to want to wear a watch unless it’s fun. Fortunately, the Benobby Kids Smart Watch comes with games built-in, so your child can have fun whether they’re in a long car ride or waiting for the school bus. Parents will be glad to know that they can set a daily time limit for the games, and put the watch on a Do Not Disturb mode so their kids aren’t too distracted in the classroom. Did I mention it’s waterproof?

Best Tech Gift For Seniors

Vivint Entry Sensors

Vivint Security System

Vivint is the only security company I’ve ever reviewed to offer professional installation, and after a recent update, free professional installation. That’s perfect for seniors who may not be super familiar with IoT devices. For those adult children of seniors, you’ll love monitoring your parents through the Vivint Smart Home app, whether it’s livestreaming footage, speaking to your seniors through their cameras’ two-way audio, or getting alerted if an alarm goes off.

For even more security, Vivint offers 24/7 professional monitoring, a team of people who can verify emergencies and contact first-responders if needed. That’ll give you assurance that your seniors are safe, even if you don’t have time to monitor them. Of course, the Vivint Smart Home app is so easy to use that even not super tech-savvy people can use it, including seniors themselves. It has a 4.5 from the Google Play store and a 4.6 from the Apple store, making it one of the highest-rated security apps around.

Best Tech Gift Under $50

Wyze Cam

Wyze Cam

Believe it or not, the $20 Wyze Cam is the only security camera I’ve ever reviewed to meet all of  Security Baron’s Necessary Features. With 1080p HD video, clear infrared night vision, free local and cloud storage for 14 days, integrations with Alexa, IFTTT and Google Assistant, and person detection, there’s no area that the Wyze Cam doesn’t absolutely kill. Plus, it’s literally the cheapest security camera I’ve reviewed, beating the next best brand by about $40. The camera even has smart sound recognition for smoke and CO alarms, making your devices go from “dumb” to smart.

Aside from the camera, Wyze has produced a number of other awesome IoT products under $50, like the Wyze Sense motion and contact sensor pack, the Wyze smart plug, and the Wyze bulb. Although this brand is new, they’re quickly rising to the top of the smart home space in terms of quality and pricing.

Best Tech Gift For College Students

ExpressVPN App

ExpressVPN

Did you know that if you’re on a public Wi-Fi network, you might be more vulnerable to hacking? That’s why I recommend ExpressVPN for college students. It’s regularly known as one of the best VPNs around, encrypting all web traffic in a tunnel and replacing users’ IP addresses to keep their data secure. Plus, the company is based in the British Virgin Islands, which has no data retention laws and isn’t a member of any international surveillance alliances. In English? The company won’t be forced to hand over customer data, although they don’t keep your web traffic in the first place.

Another advantage of ExpressVPN, particularly attractive to college students, is that it allows for both Netflix use and torrenting. Plus, students can access public and private networks at the same time using ExpressVPN’s split tunneling feature. That’s great if the students needs to access an assignments on their university’s public network, while keeping their calculations (or grades) private.

Click and Grow Smart Garden

Click and Grow Smart Garden

As much as I love having fresh basil to put over my pasta, the process of growing herbs can be difficult, especially indoors. But alas, I live in New York City, where space and sunlight can be sparse. Am I destined to roam the world devoid of delicious produce?

Fortunately, there’s a solution that will work whether you live in a big city or a small town. The Click and Grow Smart Garden waters itself and, with an LED grow light, you’ll never have to worry that your plants aren’t getting enough light or water. This garden has a built-in timer for up to 50 pre-seeded plant pods (I’m talking lavender, thyme, and wild strawberries, to name a few), so all you have to do to grow some herbs is place the plant pod in and add water to the tank once a month. I can’t wait to try what I’ve grown from this smart garden, and the woman in your life can’t wait either.
