50 Safest Cities
Named after King Louis XIV of France, Louisiana is known as the Pelican State and Sportsman’s Paradise. It’s also known for the famous Mardi Gras celebration in New Orleans, its large Cajun population, descendants of the Acadians driven out of Canada, and Saint Martin Parish, which holds the largest freshwater river basin in the world. Whether you’re in New Orleans or Baton Rouge, Bossier City or Lafayette, there’s many Creole, Cajun, and French cultures to explore. New Orleans in particular is home to the French Quarter, a center for jazz music and colonial architecture, the St. Louis Cathedral done in the Renaissance style, and the National World War II museum. Whether you like music, food, or history, there’s something for you in Louisiana!
So if you’re in Louisiana, what are the key activities that you just can’t miss? I’ll name a few:
- French Quarter- Like I said, you have to see the heart of New Orleans, which has amazing nightlife, colorful buildings with balconies, and incredible jazz clubs.
- Oak Alley Plantation- This cafe on the Mississippi River has traditional Southern and Cajun food like mint juleps, po’ boys, and don’t forget cocktails!
- Audubon Zoo- Jaguars and alligators and tigers, oh my! This zoo spans 58 acres and 2,000 animals, in the heart of New Orleans.
Whatever the occasion, if you visit Louisiana, you should probably get a handle on its safest cities. Number one on our list is Addis, a town in West Baton Rouge Parish. With a population just over 5,000, Addis has only 1.76 violent crimes per 1,000 people and 0 property crimes for the same population, which is almost unheard of.
This statistic shows the number of violent crimes per 1,000 people in the past year. Violent crimes include forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assault, murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, as defined by the FBI.
Finally, this number shows how many property crimes were committed in the past year per every 1,000 of the city’s residents. Property crimes include burglary, motor vehicle theft, arson and larceny-theft.
