Wyoming’s
Safest Cities

2019

Wyoming may have the fewest people of any state in the United States with only 576,412 residents, but don’t underestimate it. It has a lot of important historical first, like the first national park in the country, Yellowstone, the first National Monument, Devil’s Tower, the first National Forest, Shoshone National Forest, plus, it was the right state to allow women to vote! Nature and equality? Count me in. Plus, Wyoming has a Gross Domestic Product of over $38 million, which for less than 600,000 people is not too shabby. Their main industries are mining of coal, natural gas, and even diamonds, agriculture of cattle, hay, and grains, plus the tourism from the aforementioned national parks. Plus, the state has a few cities to boot, including Rock Springs, Cheyenne, Gillette, Laramie, and Casper.

If you’re in Wyoming for whatever reason, make sure you don’t miss:

  • Old Faithful: As certain as death or taxes, this geyser erupts hot water on schedule, an amazing part of Yellowstone National Park.
  • Devils Tower National Monument: This landmark is considered to be sacred to Native American tribes, plus, you can climb it!
  • Jackson Hole: This beautiful valley is peppered with ski resorts as well as a charming town square.

But the safest city in Wyoming is Green River Green River, located in Sweetwater County in the state’s southwestern corner. How Did We Determine the Safest Cities?

Of course, this isn’t just the safest cities according to personal opinion. Rather, we used the FBI’s 2017 and 2016 Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) data to choose our top picks, based on factors like:

  • Murder rate
  • Rape rate
  • Robbery Rate
  • Assault rate
  • Burglary rate
  • Theft rate
  • Vehicle theft rate
  • Arson rates
  • Median Income

For each city, we’ll provide the most important information that you need to know, such as the city’s population, violent and property crime rates and trends, median income, average household income, and an overall safety score and ranking. Plus, we’ll show you all the specific numbers for the above rates, in addition to larceny theft rates and the total number of civilians working in law offices.
