Bulbrite Standard Globe 60W Review

Alexa, turn on my kitchen lights! With smart light bulbs, you’ll never have to turn on a switch again, or worry that you left the lights on all day. Rather, you’ll be able to remotely control your bulb from anywhere, or even command it using your voice alone! You can also set it on schedules, which is incredibly convenient, but also pretty useful for making it seem like you’re home when you’re not. In this review, I’m checking out the Standard Globe 60W from Bulbrite. Is it worth it’s $32.99 price tag? Let’s find out!

Whereas the majority of the smart light bulbs I’ve reviewed are in the size of A19, this one is the G25 size, a more globular shape, but don’t worry— it will still fit into lamp bases with the standard E26 size. The bulb itself is LED, much more energy efficient than incandescent bulbs. It’s dimmable, but unfortunately is only available in white, and not the multicolor array that a lot of other smart bulbs can offer. But if you weren’t looking for a multicolor bulb, this may not matter to you— it all comes down to your personal preference.

Now let’s talk about what this bulb can actually do. Of course, the main thing is that you can control it remotely. You can also set it on schedules, or control multiple bulbs at once by creating scenes in the Bulbrite app.

Smart Light Bulb Schedules

You’ll be able to control up to 12 Bulbrite bulbs at once, making changing the lighting in your home less of a chore. You can even set the bulbs to sync with the sunrise and sunset, if you’re an early bird catches the worm kind of guy!

Plus, if anyone else wants to join in on the fun, you can just give them your login information to the Bulbrite app. You know what they say— the more, the merrier.

Now, the Bulbrite Standard Globe 60W works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, the two most popular voice assistants, allowing you to control them using your voice alone. Whether you’re in the Amazon or Google smart home ecosystems, the Bulbrite Standard Globe 60W will fit right in with your other connected devices.

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to hook the Bulbrite Standard Globe 60W up with connected devices from other companies, having them trigger one another to automate actions. So while this bulb works with voice assistants, it’s pretty limited when it comes to home automation.

The bulb also lacks geofencing, which would allow you to hook it up to your phone’s GPS, having it turn off when you leave and vice versa. Finally, there’s no energy monitoring, so you can’t tell how much energy the bulb is using in the Bulbrite app. Of course, these aren’t essential features for a smart light bulb, but they would’ve been nice to include. Oh well!

Installing the Bulbrite Standard Globe 60W

Installing the Bulbrite Standard Globe 60W doesn’t require a hub, so it’s as simple as downloading the Bulbrite app, syncing the bulb with the app, and of course, screwing the bulb in.

The Bulbrite App

If you’re an iPhone user, your app is called Bulbrite Solana Smart Lights, whereas it’s called Bulbrite Solana— Smart LED Lighting for Android users. The app is where you’ll create schedules, scenes, and smart platform integrations, as well as control the Bulbrite Standard Globe 60W remotely. While the Android app lacks a rating of any sort, the iOS app has a five star rating, which is great to see. Jozlynn W., an iPhone user, wrote in a recent five star review,

“Very pleased with how these bulbs operate. Once out of the box I had it running from the app and my Alexa within minutes.”

Recap of the Bulbrite Standard Globe 60W

Overall, I’d definitely recommend the Bulbrite Standard Globe 60W, but that doesn’t mean it’s for everyone. Let’s break it down.

Go with the Bulbrite Standard Globe 60W if you’d like…

  • Alexa and Google Assistant integrations: Whether you are in the Google or Amazon ecosystems, you’ll be able to control the Bulbrite Standard Globe 60W with your voice assistant.
  • Highly-rated iPhone app: You literally can’t get better than a perfect five stars!
  • Fair price: $32.99 falls exactly in the middle of smart light bulb pricing, and this bulb has the majority of the features I’m looking for.

But don’t buy the Bulbrite Standard Globe 60W if you were looking for…

  • Multicolor: Unfortunately, the Bulbrite Standard Globe 60W is only available in white, although its temperature is tunable.
  • Geofencing: You won’t be able to sync your bulb with your phone’s GPS so it adjusts based on your location.
  • Syncing to other connected devices: If you were looking to trigger actions based on your smart light bulb and other IoT products, then the Bulbrite Standard Globe 60W is certainly not for you.
