AUKEY Smart Plug Review

AUKEY, all-caps intended, makes everything from USB-C cords to Bluetooth audio products. As one of Amazon’s top ranked sellers, they’re available in over 50 countries from the Middle East to Latin America to North America.

I ordered the AUKEY smart plug which has the ability to turn any old device into a smart device. For example, you can connect it with your oven and control whether it’s on or off from the AUKEY Home app, Amazon Alexa, or Google Assistant. That’s pretty cool, especially because I’m always wondering if I remembered to shut the oven off.

In this review, I’ll talk about the AUKEY Smart Plug’s design, features, how well it works, how easy it was to install, and finally the mobile app. Let’s jump in.

Design of the AUKEY Smart Plug

The AUKEY Smart Plug is meant to be used indoors. I love how it doesn’t block other sockets when it’s plugged in. The plug uses Wi-Fi to connect to your app, and can work for appliances with up to 1800 watts of power.

Features of the AUKEY Smart Plug

If you’re looking for a plug that’ll allow you to turn off your appliance remotely, you’re in luck. Whether you just left home or are on vacation in France, you can control your plug remotely. You can also create schedules for it so things turn on and off automatically depending on the time of day, and you can create scenes so multiple plugs can be turned on or off at once. On top of that, the plug integrates with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and IFTTT, so you’ll be able to vocally command it. Truly, turning things on and off has never been easier.

The only feature the AUKEY Smart Plug doesn’t have is energy monitoring. Some plugs allow you to see on their app how much energy you’re using. Obviously, this isn’t a necessary feature, but it would have been a nice addition.

The AUKEY Home app

From the AUKEY Home app, you’ll be able to remotely control your appliances and create schedules and scenes. The app is pretty well rated, with a 4.5 and four star rating from the Apple and Google Play stores, respectively.

Recap of the AUKEY Smart Plug

Let’s recap! The best things about the AUKEY Smart Plug are as follows:

  • Doesn’t block other sockets
  • Remote access
  • Create schedules and scenes
  • Integrates with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and IFTTT
  • Good ratings on mobile app

I would say that the plug’s only negative is that it lacks energy monitoring. With a two-year warranty and only $27.99 for a two-pack, this plug is definitely a worthwhile purchase.
