Vivint had over 3500 complaints lodged against it with the Better Business Bureau. Vivint has a reputation for aggressive salesmen that promise more than is available or can be provided. This has resulted in several lawsuits filed against the company by state’s attorney general’s offices for misrepresentation and deceptive sales tactics.

Frontpoint has an A+ BBB rating. Frontpoint has much fewer complaints and higher ratings from users also.

Each company charges about the same for installation and activation. Though Vivint does not charge for equipment, their monthly monitoring fees are substantially higher for all package offerings.

Vivint has one of the longest contractual agreements of any home security company. This makes earlier cancelation fees extremely high in many cases as the fees are based on the number of months remaining in the contract.
